The Upper Moreland Education Foundation exists to provide the Upper Moreland Community with enhanced learning opportunities through creative and innovative educational programs.

Each year, members from the Upper Moreland education community are invited to participate in a competitive process for UMEF grant monies. As UMEF grows, we will be able to support more programs and reach more children in the Upper Moreland community. Application Guidelines and Procedures are available on this web site or by contacting the President.

The UMEF 3nd Annual 5K Run/1.5 Walk was a wonderful success!

The sunny, crisp morning brought together families and community members for a friendly race that boasted over 250 runners and walkers.

Pre-race, the participants were treated to a school mascot race, which included the Hatboro Horsham Hatters, the Upper Dublin Cardinal, and our own Golden Bear - who won easily! Post race, Sonic of Willow Grove, was on hand to provide the hungry participants breakfast burritos and juice.

Congratulations and thanks to all for participating in the 5K. To the right are the winners of each category; click here to view the entire list of runners, photos of the event, and also the great sponsors whose generous contributions made the day a great success!

The Upper Moreland Education Foundation (UMEF) is pleased to announce the continuation of its “Walk to Get Smart” fundraising event! Scheduled for Friday, May 9, 2014, our Primary and Intermediate Schools will be participating in the second Walk to Get Smart event. Please check this link to read a sample letter that was sent home with our students. We are reaching out again to the ranks to the of the community and our student's families, who understand the importance of providing our students with the technology tools to succeed in the future. The goal of the fundraiser is to purchase “Smart Board” Interactive White Boards and technology devices for every student in every classroom in the Upper Moreland Township School District.

Our fundraiser asks Upper Moreland School District students to provide the UMEF with addresses of family, friends, and community members in order to ask for donations to purchase Interactive Smart Boards and technology devices. On the day of the event, students will walk around a designed route and participate in various exercise & game stations.

We are pleased to announce that in the past we have collected thousands of dollars, which enabled us to purchase 21 Smart Boards. But we aren't done! We would like to outfit every classroom in the district!

Another one of our next steps for this technology initiative is to engage the companies and businesses in the area to support the programs through the PA Education Improvements Tax Credits (EITC), where companies can donate to approved programs like this one and receive increased tax benefits through the EITC.

Anyone wishing to donate to the Walk to Get Smart Fund can just click the Donate button below.

The UMEF is reaching out to the business community to help us to continue our goal of outfitting every classroom with Interactive Smart Boards and other technologies. Businesses who want to contribute to this goal, can receive a 75 to 90 percent credit on their state taxes.

In 2012, the UMEF became part of the Educational Improvement Tax Credit Program (EITC). Executed by the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development, the program awards tax credits to businesses that make contributions to approved scholarship organizations and/or educational improvement organizations.

Businesses can apply for the tax credit program if they are subject to:

  • Corporate Net Income Tax
  • Bank & Trust Company Shares Tax
  • Insurance Premiums Tax
  • Capital Stock Franchise Tax
  • Title Insurance Company Shares Tax
  • Mutual Thrift Institutions Tax
