The Upper Moreland Education Foundation exists to provide the Upper Moreland Community with enhanced learning opportunities through creative and innovative educational programs.

Each year, members from the Upper Moreland education community are invited to participate in a competitive process for UMEF grant monies. As UMEF grows, we will be able to support more programs and reach more children in the Upper Moreland community. Application Guidelines and Procedures are available on this web site or by contacting the President.

Success! The Upper Moreland Education Foundation (UMEF) is pleased to announce the “Walk to Get Smart” fundraising event exceeded our wildest expectations! Many thanks go to the generosity of our student's families and the community, who understood the importance of providing our students with the technology tools to succeed in the future. The fundraiser was intended to continue with the UMEF's "Technology Initiative" to purchase “Smart Board” Interactive White Boards and technology devices for most classrooms in the Upper Moreland Township School District.

Upper Moreland School District students provided the UMEF with thousands of addresses of family, friends, and community members which enabled us to ask for donations to purchase Interactive Smart Boards and technology devices. On the day of the event, students walked around a designated route and participated in various exercise & game stations.

We are pleased with the participation and we will be announcing very soon the dollar amount that we collected along with how many Smart Boards we will be able to purchase.

Our next step is to engage the companies and businesses in the area to support the programs through the PA Education Improvements Tax Credits (EITC), where companies can donate to approved programs like this one and receive increased tax benefits through the EITC.

The UMEF is still taking donations to the Walk to Get Smart Fund. You can do this by clicking the Donate button below.

Thanks to everyone for your continued support!

The UMEF is reaching out to the business community to help us to continue our goal of outfitting every classroom with Interactive Smart Boards and other technologies. Businesses who want to contribute to this goal, can receive a 75 to 90 percent credit on their state taxes.

In 2012, the UMEF became part of the Educational Improvement Tax Credit Program (EITC). Executed by the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development, the program awards tax credits to businesses that make contributions to approved scholarship organizations and/or educational improvement organizations.

Businesses can apply for the tax credit program if they are subject to:

  • Corporate Net Income Tax
  • Bank & Trust Company Shares Tax
  • Insurance Premiums Tax
  • Capital Stock Franchise Tax
  • Title Insurance Company Shares Tax
  • Mutual Thrift Institutions Tax
